LFA EPSC 2 - Medium Polystyrene Compactor

The LFA EPSC 2 is a medium capacity polystyrene compactor (EPS compactor) designed to reduce expanded polystyrene (EPS) packaging waste into dense, manageable blocks. It achieves a compaction ratio of up to 50:1, forming solid EPS blocks with a cross-section of 200 x 200 mm, significantly reducing the space taken up by loose polystyrene stored in bags, bins and skips. This makes it a practical on-site polystyrene compaction solution for UK businesses handling higher volumes of EPS.

Block length is variable and typically cut manually, allowing finished blocks to be stacked neatly on pallets ready for storage and collection.

The machine has a 600 x 400 mm feed opening with a feed height of 1,470 mm, making it suitable for manual loading. The LFA EPSC 2 can process between 20 and 70 kg of EPS per hour, equivalent to approximately 2 to 5 m³ of loose polystyrene per hour, depending on material type, density and how the machine is fed. Back pressure within the compaction channel is set using a manually adjusted hydraulic channel clamp, creating resistance at the end of the channel so the screw auger can compact the material effectively. This allows the machine to be set to suit different grades of polystyrene without relying on electronic pressure controls.

The LFA EPSC 2 stops when no material is being processed, so the machine is not left running with an empty chamber during normal operation. The unit is supplied on castors, allowing it to be moved around site where required rather than fixed in one position, which is useful where EPS waste is generated in more than one area.

The LFA EPSC 2 is commonly used across the UK in warehousing, manufacturing, distribution, retail and packaging operations, as well as electrical retailers, appliance distributors and food-related businesses where expanded polystyrene packaging needs to be compacted on site to reduce storage space and waste collections.
