LFA Food Digester

The LFA Digester is a refurbished Mechline H20 food waste digester designed for on-site food waste treatment in commercial kitchens and food preparation areas. It processes soft biodegradable food waste and converts it into a grey discharge water (effluent) that is safe to discharge directly into the drainage system.

The machine works by slowly agitating food waste using internal paddles while mixing it with warm water and enzymes. This mechanical action breaks food down over time, producing a liquid output rather than solid waste. The process is continuous and does not rely on cutting or grinding.

The LFA Digester is best suited to soft food waste such as cooked and uncooked meat, fish, vegetables, bread, rice and plate scrapings. It is not suitable for hard or fibrous materials such as bones, shells, fruit husks or similar waste that does not break down easily.

Up to 180kg of food waste can be processed over a 24-hour period, making the unit suitable for commercial kitchens producing consistent daily food waste. By treating food waste on site, the digester provides an alternative to storing food waste in bins or arranging frequent food waste collections.

This commercial food waste digester is commonly used in restaurants, hotels, staff canteens, care homes, hospitals and other food service environments where food waste is generated throughout the day and needs to be managed efficiently within the building.
