LFA BC - Forklift Skip Compactor
The LFA Block Compactor is a simple and economical way to compact waste directly inside a skip by using a forklift mounted concrete block. It is most commonly used with front end loader (FEL) skips, but is also suitable for rear end loader (REL) skips and roll on roll off (RoRo) skips. It is designed for sites looking to reduce skip collections without installing machinery.
The system works by lifting the concrete block into the skip using a forklift via the tine slots on the block and lowering it onto the waste. By using the block compactor, skip volumes can be reduced by up to 4:1, depending on waste type and block weight. An extendable central shaft allows the block to reach deeper into the skip, ensuring waste is compacted evenly all the way to the bottom.
Block compactors are typically used for multiple waste streams such as general waste and dry recyclables, allowing one compactor to be used across different skips on site. The LFA Block Compactor is commonly specified as a forklift skip compactor on sites already operating forklifts, FEL, REL or RoRo skips.
The LFA Block Compactor range consists of three models – LFA BC 1250, LFA BC 1500 and LFA BC 2000 – allowing sites to select a block weight to suit their forklift’s safe lifting capacity. Gross block weights range from 1,250kg to 2,000kg, depending on model. Each block is lifted by inserting forklift tines into the built-in slots, securing the safety chains, and lowering the block into the skip.
All blocks share a consistent footprint to suit standard skips, with differing heights and weights to achieve the required compaction force. The design is fully mechanical, with no electrics or hydraulics.
The LFA Block Compactor is used on industrial and commercial sites across the UK including warehouses, manufacturing sites, distribution centres and yards where forklifts and skip systems are already in place.
